Pedal to the Point

Each year, Andrew bikes to cedar point and back to raise money for MS. I've been stashing away his stuff to make shadow boxes for him. As I was walking through Michael's last weekend, I discovered the frames were BOGO free! So tonight, I took the time to create these two boxes for him with all treasures. And the bonus? He really likes them!

Found it!!

I had to search, but I found the pictures of my book bags that I dip dyed. Actually liked doing them AND I managed to not get any dye on me or my clothes!

Whimseybox!

My subscription to Whimseybox totally rocks! (Yay Mom!). I finally caught up on all my crafting this past week or so. I made a concrete planter, lavender sachets with mine and Lisa's initials (she LOVES lavender!), two tote bags (no picture here), and peppermint lip balm! And even cooler than this is that I posted my pictures on instagram and the owner and founder of whimseybox loves all my photos! So super cool!

My WIP's

Currently working on three projects. The first picture is the Double Delight Cowl and I'm using my madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted in Stephen Loves Tosh. It's super soft and will be awesome for this cowl. I doubled the pattern to make a long cowl that can be twisted instead of the short cowl that will feel like I'm strangling.

Second picture is Brickless. It's a shawl by Martina Behm. I'm using Miss Babs' Yowza Whatta Skein in Zombie Prom.

The last picture in my Miss Winkle that is also by Martina Behm. For this I'm using Anither Crafty Girl's Twinkle Sock in Fresh Peony. Love this!!!

Whimsybox

My April whimsybox arrived (FINALLY)! Tomorrow is whimsybox day--concrete planter, lavender sachets, and chapstick!!

Miss Winkle

Loving the Miss Winkle! Loving the shiny sock yarn! My favorite shawlette so far. Considering doing it again in my Destination Yarns shiny sock yarn called Cleveland Spring. Yum!

Stephanie's Shawl

Decided to give the color affection another shot--this time in crochet. It's called Stephanie's shawl and I started this evening. Since I crochet faster than I knit--I still may finish in time to complete Camp Loopy! Yay!

Color Affection

My color affection shawl has bit the dust. I dropped a stitch and couldn't recover. I remained calm even through the mess in the last photo. It has all been rewound and I will try again later. I had just started the 3 section with the short rows and couldn't fix the mistake--it kept unraveling another row back and I finally ripped it out. I didn't even cry...

My increased stash

Perhaps the main reason I went to Stitches Midwest was for the yarn. Ok, it was. Here's what I scored: Miss Babs' Yowza in 3 colors, Another Crafty Girl in sock and worsted, and some Zauberball and a couple of others I've never heard of but loved.

Stitches Midwest

I took two really interesting classes. Knitting in the round on two sticks was the first. I was ok until I got to the short rows and then I got lost. Will try again with a different yarn. The second class was with Gwen Bortner and she taught me how to knit in two directionsor how to knit left-handed. It was pretty awesome.

Knit1

The last store I went to was Knit 1. I loved talking with the women in their. I got a chance to gossip about stitches Midwest and joke around. Lots of Noro in stock here. But what I really liked was how friendly they were. This wold be my local yarn store if I lived in Chicago.

Nina

The second store I went to was Nina. Interesting displays and a small selection of yarns. But they did have a nice selection of madelinetosh.

Chicago Yarncrawl

I spent Friday in Chicago going to local yarn stores for their annual Yarncrawl. This is Loopy Yarns in the heart of downtown Chicago. The dog is a Mastiff named Fletch. They had a lot of basic yarns, but not any of my favorites.

Stitches Midwest

I recently adventured to Chicago for a 4 day yarn party called Stitches Midwest. It was a nice vacation away from Cleveland and a chance to explore the city.

Tuesday and Wednesday

I leave for Chicago in the morning. I'm headed to STITCHES Midwest for 4 days of yarn porn. But before I get going, I cranked out some infinity scarves for my wardrobe and I managed to get into section 2 of my Color Affection shawl. And now, I'm off to sleep before a long drive tomorrow.

T-shirt crafts

So I had so old t-shirts that needed to be donated or up cycled, so I remembered a pin on Pinterest about infinity scarves. I took my clean shirts and folded the them in half long ways. I used my rotary cutter and ruler to cut 1" strips ( minus the seam at the bottom ). I stretched out the strips to get curled edges and lined up the side seams. I put them around my neck and doubled them so both seams were in the back. Viola!

I think they look great paired with my old Cavs shirt! LoL

Bracelets!

Stopped by Michaels today for more beads I didn't need. Here's my working space and 1.5 finished bracelets. They work up quick, but I'm too tired to string beads on small elastic. Tomorrow will be better!

Project Loopy and Weekend Crafting

I started my Color Affection shawl today and have already modified the design. Go figure. I changed the increases and it seems to be just fine. As for the rest of lot pictured--I'm making wristlet keychains and bracelets. I have something weird planned for the leather bracelet--string art designs with floss. The beads are going to be pretties to stack up and wear when I feel like blinging myself out. Busy weekend! Not to forget, also, that Andrew is biking 185 miles from here to cedar point and back.
