Sock Love

Just finished pair #10!  Yay!!  This is Opal sock yarn in "Smokey Eyes and Colored Lips".

And I decided you might want to see my sock progress in ascending order.

And here's the socks that will soon be...  (13 and counting!). Imagine the damage I'll do once school is out!!??

Blue thumbs

I managed to turn the second heel today--not yesterday like I wanted.  I needed a nap yesterday--as predicted.  So, today I worked on the Desert Vista Dyeworks sock and ended up with blue thumbs.  The dye rubbed off from the dark blue stripe.  With blue thumbs, there was no way I was going to touch my Burberry socks.

Once I got home where the good soap is, I worked up to the red stripe towards the toe.  Tomorrow, I should get to the toe on both.  I hope.  As for now, my eyes are tired and so am I.  Off to bed!

Socks 6 and 7.1 for 2014

Ah!  Socks!  Oh, how I love socks!

Here's my progress on this month's socks.  Turtlepurl's Trenchcoat is on top.  Loving the Burberry-esque stripes!  And Desert Vista Dyeworks DVD Logo stripes on the bottom. This one is prettier than I thought it was going to be. Love her yarn!  (I've labeled it sock 7.1 because I started knitting the shibui sock yarn first and didn't like it.)

Tomorrow, I'm hoping to get to the heels on both!

5th Pair of Socks in 2014

True to my word, I finished the Moondance socks this morning as a part of my therapy session to control my anger. (Work is so aggravating!)

They look awesome and I love them!  My favorite pair so far!

The pattern is my own--cast on 56, 2x2 rib for 12 rows. Then k6 p2 until I begin the fish lips kiss heel.  Etc...

Then I immediately cast on my Burberry-ish socks and my Shibui Knit Socks--because I still had some anger issues.  I won't tell you that I got well I to both socks before I got home from work--it will just be my secret.

4th Pair of Socks in 2014

So, on the hottest day so far in 2014, I complete a pair of wool socks.  Go figure!  I tried to,finish the Mokndance socks today, as well, but I dropped a stitch and knew I was done for the day. (I caught. The stitch and fixed the error, but I knew there would be more if I continued.)

Socks #4 are Patons Kroy in Brown Marl Ragg. I used size 3 needles and cast on 56 stitches. The cuff is a 2x2 rib and the sock is basic stockinette.  I used the Fish Lips Kiss Heel by Sox Therapist.

I personally was disappointed with the socks when I started because I like my stripes to change quicker.  Each stripe here was 13 rows and most of my socks stripe at 6 rows.  Big whoop, right?  Well, once I completed the first heel, I was in love with the socks.  That doesn't mean I would use this yarn pattern again, but I am very happy with the end product.

Tomorrow? Socks #5!  And I'm casting on the  Trenchcoat (Burberry-ish) socks by Turtlepurl. Yay!!

Socks

I've acquired quite a bit of sock yarn over the past year and I'm finishing I really like knitting them.  So, I made another decision...  From now on, socks are my main focus.  I'll change my ind again, but I can do whatever I like because, well, because I can.

So, tonight I cast on this yarn for a pair of socks.  Just a simple stockinette pair of socks.  On Instagram they called these #plainvanilla.

And here's the Moondance socks.  I actually got about an inch more done on these. These are a k6 p2 design.  I wanted something different for the yarn since it's pretty plain.  The heel and toe will be orange.

And, I'm going to finish the things I'm currently working on.  But once they are done, one big project at a time, one hat for something to break up the monotony, and SOCKS!!!  Operation Sock Drawer is in progress.  12 pairs for the year is my goal, but I'm on track to have 16.  *HappyDance*
