This blog was originally about keeping a New Year's Resolution about being creative every day. As I plod through my daily trials, the blog has evolved into a way to find and maintain my happiness through crafting and creating.

Range Wrap--All Wrapped Up!
Finished it this evening, bound off and couldn't figure out how to wear it! LOL! My stash dash total is 3770 yards. I may have "cheated" buy giving away 500 yards of my stash to mom, but to me--it counts because my stash is lighter. 604 yards to go in the next 5 days. I may not make it.
Columbus and The Ohio State Fair
Spent the weekend in Columbus for my Dad's birthday. Each year on his birthday, he likes to get his picture taken with Smokey the Bear. Ta Da! And we always hit the art and craft buildings. A gorgeous Noah's Ark (picture is sideways-ack!), a new craft to me called bobbin weaving, and a beautifully hand crafted holster. People have the most amazing skills, don't they?

Hitchhiker and Color Affection
Today, I finished the Hitchhiker. Project 2 for Camp Loopy is complete. And as you can see, the yarn for project 3 arrived safely. Will be winding them tomorrow.

Kumihimo and Scottish Tartan
Today, I made this bracelet for my cousin David. It is leather and it is an 8 strand "kumihimo" braid. It is a spiral, basically. I've become obsessed with kumihimo on Pinterest, so I started up again today after a few years of hibernation. More coming! The next ones will be made out of satin cord called "rat tail." The designs should be pretty cool.
As for the plaid pictured--this is the official tartan for the Martin family. Andrew and I were googling the Wilson tartan and I looked up mine. I'm kind of smitten with it.

Camp Loopy Project 3
Mom helped me pick my yarn for my third Camp Loopy Project. The only requirement is that it has to be 800 yards. So I picked the Color Affection Shawl and mommy picked my colors. madelinetosh Sock yarn. Yummy.
Accomplishment and a funny....
Andrew watches this stupid show on the History Channel every Sunday about aliens and this guy is always on it and I always say, "Yikes! Nice hair, buddy!" And then I came across this picture on pinterest and I sent it to Andrew who thought it was not so funny. I giggled for quite a while. Anywhooooo. I did get most of my ribbon necklaces done. Other than that, I napped all weekend.

Today, I plugged in the portable power saw and put up this shelf in my mud room. I'm thrilled to finally get that crap up off the floor! And then I cut some more wood--one to stabilize the shelf in my craft room and I cut the framing for the pegboard in my craft room. Tomorrow, I'll finish reorganizing my craft room. And since it was so stinkin' hot, I just sat and worked on my hitchhiker--almost done!!

Necklaces
I was getting tired of looking at all my little project bins sitting around the craft room so today I eliminated 2 of them and completed all these "purty" necklaces. I have 6 more to make tomorrow! Yay!
New pretties!
Here's the fabric I didn't need, but bought anyway. And all my new pretty thread (which I've already loaded on to all my bobbins so I'm ready to go!!)
Fear of the Kenmore
The last time I used the Kenmore, it ate my scarf. So, Tuesday, I decided to give him another chance. I wound the bobbin, took 124 tries to get the thread to catch, and then...... I made these 2 awesome projects! An infinity scarf out of 2 fat quarters and a reversible headband. (You can get 4 of these out if a fat quarter!) So, now, I'm a monster of the fabric buying variety. Don't tell Andrew.

Cathedral yarn and UK magazines
I have many weird thoughts over the course of a week, as I'm sure most people do--hopefully. Well, I came across this beautiful madelinetosh yarn named Cathedral and my thoughts returned to the visit I had to Paris in 1988. Then I found these awesome magazines and realized that Britain has the coolest magazines. And my thoughts drifted to maybe one day leaving America behind for Europe--and could I convince 6 people, 2 dogs, and a very mean cat to go with me?

Malabrigo
If I had to pick only 5 yarns to use for the rest of my life Malabrigo would be one. Such yummy colors. My top 5 yarns? Malabrigo, madelinetosh, Marigoldjen, and the last two slots are pending--trying to think of a good self-striping yarn other than Noro. What are your top 5 picks?
St. John's Festival of the Arts
I've been severely disappointed with the arts festivals here in Cleveland. Even a few of the fiber events I went to with Lisa were crappy. So, when Cleveland Magazine did a 4 page spread on St. John's Festival of the Arts I decided to swing by. It was a lovely venue with TONS of things to see and do. The first booth I came to? Annemarie's Alpacas. Yarn, woven scarves, mittens, hats! I actually enjoyed myself from there on. Tons of different vendors and not just 50 different jewelry makers. I bought a lovely hand-blown glass ornament for my Dad's birthday (because at Comfest he kept ooglying them but wouldn't buy himself one). I hope he likes it... No picture though--can't seem to get a good shot of it yet. And the purse is made by Jai Originals from Munroe Falls, Ohio--check her out on google--her bags are awesome!

Goat photos!
I got new post it notes and decided they were more fun dressing up pictures around the house than for notes. My goat photo looks especially cute with the modifications!
Tanner
I managed to inspire tanner into a little crafting while be was here this weekend. He was in live with my tree I had made so he decided to make Jaida's name and Londyn's letter with a monkey to match her room. He was very proud!
July 8
Worked on a few things today. My hitchhiker shawl for Camp Loopy project 2 is coming along quickly, yet slowly. Knitter, you understand.
Then I finally had a brilliant idea about my butterfly mobile made from perler beads. I took the inside hoop of an embroidery hoop and hung them from that.
And the last picture is the prep work for the bracelet I'm going to work in tomorrow!

Infinity Scarves
My final sewing adventure of the weekend was making an infinity scarf. 2 yards of fabric--endless possibilities. The first attempt ended up with a tube so I cut off the seam, turned it right side out and sewed the ends together. Ta-Da! Two more to go. They went much faster. Want to make your own? Here's how in plain English.
Get two yards of fabric and spread the fabric out in one large piece. Cut the fabric lengthwise (the long side) in 14" strips. You will now have three pieces of fabric measuring 14" (inches) by 6' (feet). Turn over and fold in half so the pretty side of the fabric is inside. You are doing a hotdog fold, not a hamburger fold-- so ow you have a piece of fabric 7" by 6'. Pin the open edges together of the long side and sew the long side together.
Take out the pins.
Reach inside the tube and pull it right side out.
Now, fold in about a half inch of the fabric of one of the open ends and iron so it looks pretty. This will be the part that shows outside. You are folding it in so you don't have those little threads fraying. Now take the other end and place it inside the end you just ironed. Line up the seams and make sure your tube is straight. This makes the circle. Pin this opening closed and sew as close to the ironed seam as possible. Trim your threads, iron if you like, double it and throw it over your head. Voila!
