This blog was originally about keeping a New Year's Resolution about being creative every day. As I plod through my daily trials, the blog has evolved into a way to find and maintain my happiness through crafting and creating.

Sunday
I started a minion hat and two scarves today. Quick projects make me very happy. I'll probably cast on another shawl this week, but for now, I'm happy with these easy projects.

Finished!
It was a pretty good week for knitting projects. I finished Miss Winkle, a malabrigo cowl and a ruffled scarf. I've been trying to do a simple project with a complicated project to make me feel more productive. I'm also seriously considering the stash bust new year resolution again. I really need to clear out the stash to make room for awesome yarns. And I've been pretty good about going through the yarn I have and planning out projects for them. (But who's to say I won't stock up in December so I can keep my resolution?)

WIP's
Finally finished my Miss Winkle shawlette. Very happy with it!! And to make myself feel productive, I cast on two quick knits--a ruffled scarf in John Adams colors and a chunky cowl using my stash of malabrigo rasta. Finished objects just give me a sense of relief and satisfaction. I'm only doing easy knitting for the rest of September. I even started a crochet project today in the hopes of using up some of this stash faster!

The Wool Gathering and Mom
I had the opportunity to spend a beautiful afternoon with my mom at The Wool Gathering in Yellow Springs, Ohio on Saturday. We had a yummy lunch--cheese curds and pulled pork. We saw some nice things for sale (but not a lot of pictures because the red tent made everything look weird). I scored a lovely Fiber Optics Gradient set (and mistakenly took mom's, so the one show is hers!). I also got a lovely fingering weight in Verbena by Happy Fuzzy Yarns. And a tshirt that sums me up pretty nicely. Then we snuck over to Joann's after dinner with men--the joy of driving separately--and snagged some ruffle yarn and a hello kitty tin!
The only downside to the weekend is that it's over. Love you, mom!!

The past few days--ideas, mistakes, and tape!
This is my next project's yarn. It is worsted weight by Another Crafty Girl called "Wocka Wocka" in honor of Fozzie the Bear. I'll be redoing the TGV in this. It is smooshy soft.

New pattern
So I've tried a pattern with my fancy yarn twice and I've screwed it up twice so I changed patterns and yarns. Here's my new project--TGV. And yarn from Chicago--Freia. It'll be nice to not screw up a pattern--if I haven't jinxed myself.
My final yarn buy
of the day. I'm trying to work through my stash and I'm trying to not spend money, but today I bought this lovely yarn, needles and snarky cards.

Washi tape addiction.
About a year ago, I discovered washi tape but it was pretty hard to find other than from Japanese distributors. Now--you can find it lots of places and as you can see I have a pretty large collection. I have so much I had to buy a four foot dowel rod to hold it.
Brickless shawl
I finally finished my Brickless shawl today. It was pretty nice to work with worsted yarn again. It makes projects go quick. Next up? Chunky yarn. I have some malabrigo rasta that needs some lovin'.

Self striping sock yarn
I finally found one I really loved. This is Rainbow Grannies by Desert Vista Dyeworks. It is based on colors used by Lucy from Attic 24--I love her and her blog! So, I am finally forging forward into socks. Two at a time--toe up. At least that's what I think I'm doing.

Leather Bracelet
I found this leather bracelet at Pat Catan's and bought it on a whim. Then I went back and bought a few more. Today, I decided to try something with it. I took out my colorful floss and randomly started sewing designs. I'm pretty impressed with how it came out. My first design was too complicated, so I pulled the stitches out and went for more simple stitches, but more color. I took it downstairs to show Andrew and I know he liked it because he dragged me over to the light, twisted my wrist back and forth, took it off my arm to look at it again only closer, then he handed it back to me and said, "I made one of those in 2nd grade, you're not THAT cool." Oh yes, he was impressed too! The fact that he actually examined it meant he liked it. Other things he's like, "Nice," and he goes back to watching tv.
More craftiness
I have this tote bag that I love, but it needed some "pimpin'." So I finally decided to try my hand at painting. I was afraid I'd mess up the bag so I never tried it until this weekend when I decided I could always buy a new one if I messed it up. So, with Tulip glitter paint in hand, I gave it a shot. And........it turned out awesome!!
Knotty knotty!
I've been having lots of fun this weekend with knots. I-cord, kumihimo, infinity. Here's the pictures of what I've been making. 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets. Paracord, leftover yarn (MarigoldJen's and malabrigo), and silky yarn that came with my kumihimo disc.
