Sewing lessons

I had a sewing machine, I gave it back, mom gave it back so I decided to give in. Found a pattern, made a date, bought the fabric and headed to Columbus for the weekend. I secretly always wanted to sew, but I now I have a problem with yarn stash so I can only imagine the fabric stash I'm about to embark on. Anywhoooo..... Here's this weekend's progress with help from my awesome mommy. Four cute bags that the handle wraps through and you carry on your wrist. Super cool! And I've already sold one of them!! Bonus!

Companion Hat

To pass the time, I've started making hats to go with cowls I made. This little number matches my 3 Hour Cowl I did this past spring. Next is a hat to match the scarf I finished on Sunday with the latticework in it. It's going to be sooooo awesome! And perhaps now people will be happy because I always hear, "Do you have a hat to match?" Booyah! Yes I do!!

Sunday projects

Yesterday I finished two projects and got them off my needles in preparation for Camp Loopy project 2. The first two pictures are the same scarf before and after blocking. (They are pretty both ways, I think!). The next two pictures is my unfortunate dye lot mishap--The Lucy Hat. But the last picture makes me happy because I hate working with double pointed needles, but the payoff is beautiful!

Craft room rearrange

I was on Instagram today and this woman gave a video tour of her craft room. It was a total chaotic mess. Some one commented that a craft room should be messy and I balked at that. How do you do productive crafting and find inspiration if you have to dig through everything? Seriously? The irony of the situation is that I set out to reorganize my space today to make it more efficient. All my paper now has a home. My knitting needles are arranged by size in separate mason jars. My duct tape is now hanging in my ribbon organizer (and my ribbon is in a fabric bin so I can see all the colors without them unrolling like they did on the organizer. All my yarn is arranged in bins according to weight with my queued yarn sitting out so I can see it to remind me what I'm working towards. How is your craft space? Messy or immaculate?

More lovelies

And these two were my reward for sitting through crappy meetings last week. Citrus and Whiskers.

Latest Yarn Purchases!

This is Malabrigo Rastita in Jupiter for project 2 in Camp Loopy.

Camp Loopy 2013

I'm proud to,announce I finished project one for Camp Loopy! Lots of nice weather and a comfy front porch helped! I'm very proud of myself!

Darn you, Instagram!

I've been knitting and crafting, but I've forgotten to blog now that I'm addicted to Instagram. Here's my latest progress for stashdash2013. I'm into the moss stitch on my range wrap, I'm at a crossroad on my Lucy hat (the second skein doesn't exactly match and I'm trying to decide if I should continue), and I'm almost halfway done with my scarf I designed using the stitch dictionary.

Scraps

So, I finished that linen stitch scarf and was completely ok with throwing away the left over yarn when Haizle started talking about what I could do with 40 yards of yarn..... I'm going to make an I-cord bracelet. Hopefully it will be long enough to do this knot...

Yay! Yarn!

Got my yarn for Camp Loopy's project #2. Apparently I'm now in treehouse 3 instead of on Mt. K2P2. Who knows. I also managed to crank out quite a few rows on my project #1. Hoping to finish tomorrow or Wednesday because I'm starting to get a muscle strain in my right arm.

Yesterday's acquisitions

Two more skeins of loveliness. Madelinetosh vintage in Whiskers and Citrus. Gonna make an awesome hat!

Shrinking!

I'm happy to report that the Cerus scarf will be done this week. Here is what's left of my ball of yarn. I'm so happy that it is finally shrinking quicker.

Progress

Started another Lucy Hat last week. Finally getting the hang of short rows. And I managed to crank out a whopping 4 rows on my Cerus Scarf tonight. Got sidetracked, of course. It was more important to sweep the porch, do the dishes and chat with the neighbors. Priorities!

Stashdash2013 and Camploopy2013

I'm still plugging along on my Cerus scarf. I got discouraged today when I saw how many people were done with their first project. I still have half a month to go, but somewhere along the line I need to just sit my butt down and work.

Camp Loopy

I'm struggling to get this project finished. I need to,be half way done by Saturday, but instead I just sit here. Darn you linen stitch.

Bracelet ideas

While gift shopping, I may have stolen some bracelet ideas. I didn't steal the bracelets, just the ideas. The first one is so darn simple and pretty. The last one is super cool. The middle one is probably too much effort.

Last minute road trip

Decided on Thursday night I would making the trip to Virginia to see my best friend, Lisa. Granted, the 27 hours spent driving could have been spent much more wisely, but then I wouldn't
have gotten the chance to knit on an awesome beach with an awesome friend. I got very little done on all my projects, but knitting is not as important as a good friend, so I knit when I could and explored when I couldn't. Sunburned face, crab cakes in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay, and the chance to see all the stars in the sky for the first time in I don't know how long. The beauty of Smith Beach is humbling and breath-taking. It is proof that there is a higher being and a place to be happy.

Slow going

Ugh. Linen stitch. Pretty, yes. But each row is 355 stitches taking almost 30 minutes to complete. I'm trying to do 4 rows per day AT LEAST, but today I laid down and progress was thwarted. Apparently I needed a two hour nap before going right back to bed --which is where I'm writing to you from before I pass out.

Peaceful Afternoon

I accosted my mailman this afternoon and he handed me my whimseybox for May! Lip Balm time! It's peppermint, but I think I'm going to opt out of that flavor and perhaps use a citrus mixed with something else... Then I spent the rest of my afternoon knitting out on the front porch working on my range wrap. Slow going when you're sleepy.

Last Sunday of the school year

I worked on my Range Wrap (garter stitch) and my Cerus Scarf (linen stitch) today. Made good progress on both AND managed to type a 13 page document for work. My goal is to finish these two projects and 2 more by June 30. (Another scarf and my vest)

Mine and His

We are complete opposites. My desk and his desk. (Sigh.). The bad part about this? They are side by side in the same room.

Camp Loopy Begins!

Finally! Today I finally got to start my Camp Loopy project 1. I'm doing the Cerus Scarf which is all in linen stitch. Tedious, but beautiful work. I got about 4 rows done this evening in between dishes, dinner, laundry, planting annuals, cleaning lawn furniture, a retirement party, and talking on the phone. I'm loving the fact that the yarn (Bicotte & Cie's "Felix") is self striping and looking pretty darn cool. Hoping to get at least 6 rows done tomorrow in between more chores and typing a huge document for work.

I'm already ready to get next months project announcement so I can start planning that project too!!
