This blog was originally about keeping a New Year's Resolution about being creative every day. As I plod through my daily trials, the blog has evolved into a way to find and maintain my happiness through crafting and creating.

10 more rows!
Same picture as yesterday, just imagine 20 more rows added on. I have 10 more rows ill do tomorrow and then the ribbing. I'll finish this just in time to start my Lucy Hat. I ordered the yarn yesterday and it shipped out yesterday so my plate will be cleared and ready! Yay!!!

Almost finished!
One more repeat and then the decreases and the edges! Done tomorrow or Thursday! This is my Noro Earflap hat. It is making me love sock weight yarn and lace patterns. For now.

Necklaces!
I kept putting off making these necklaces because I thought the would take forever. It had been so long since I made one I thought it was going to be time consuming. Wrong. In one hour I finished all three. Sweet!

Weekend projects
Started my Noro Earflap hat and my New Italian Rib Shrug this weekend. Both intense projects. Both have one mistake already. One I ripped out and one I didn't. Andrew told me to leave the one. No reason why, he just thought it best that I leave it. So I did. For now.

Duct Tape Pouches!
I have a weakness for pouches. Seriously. I recently found a craft tutorial on how to make duct tape zipper pouches and decided to try my hand at it. Here's the two I made today. Love them!! I may make a Hello Kitty one too, but right now I'm off to knit!!

True Love
Remember my favorite hat of all time? The one I lost and cried over and then found again? I gave it to my cousin David today. And he loved it, too. And I won't miss it knowing he wears it.
Happy Day!
It was a great day today. I got to see my cousin for the first time in over a year. It is fair to say I missed him more than I could ever express. We had an awesome lunch at Melt and then shopping at the mall. Then I dropped him off and came home to finish Morris' scarf and a dreaded gauge swatch for my next sweater. I wish every day was like today, but I'll settle for what I can get.

My desk
So I thought I'd show you what I've been up to. My simple red cowl is half finished. My NORO ear flap hat is 30 rows in. A scarf for my dear student Morris is in the works. And then there's the book I'm reading for my online course about boys and why they are failing more and more.
I'm feeling pressure, but I'm ok with that. Two of these projects will be done before the end of the weekend and then I can start my new sweater. Yay!

Blahs
I worked on my Noro Earflap hat for a bit and then apathy over took me. It's been a pretty rough day and I don't have the energy to be creative or to create. Been laying in my bed since 8pm and not even Pinterest or etsy have made me happy. Tomorrow may be better. Tomorrow may be worse. But at least it won't still be today. Making important decisions in the near future and preferring to be 16 years old driving my mom's camaro. Oh well. I have things to be thankful for, but today I'm just having a pity party.
Tomorrow? Maybe tomorrow will be FAB!

Earflap Hat!
I pushed myself to finish this hat today because I have a baby blanket to crochet and I'm trying to clear my decks. I hate making blankets, but I'm doing it for a nice coworker so I guess I have no choice. Can't wait to have an old staff that no longer procreates. BUT I do LOVE this HAT!

Ear flap Hat
I started a new ear flap hat today. It is going to be so lovely that everyone will want one and no one will get one because it is done in sock yarn and is in lace. Tedious, but lovely.
Easy Double Cable Cowl
I finished my cabled cowl today. I got the pattern from A Crafty House and it was pretty simple. Now, will I wear it or sell it?

Entrelac Rocks!
I finished this lovely scarf just a few minutes ago and I love it sooooo much! This is one of my favorite completed projects. I love it so much, I may make it again, but modify the length and make a cute pouch for myself! Or for next years craft show! Love. Love. Love.

Vat Ees Dis?
Indeed! What is this? Clearance paper crafting items at Target!! A wreath and ornaments! Now, I just have to remember I have them for next year!
My first sweater
I finally knitted a sweater. It worked up super quick and is super hot to wear. I took it off and Miss Maya decided she wanted to wear it. Here she is modeling it!
OMG
Hello Kitty Fabric at Joann's!! And all their fabric is on sale this week!! I will not go. I will not go. I will not go.
Beautiful fabric!!
I have a soft spot for fabric--which is probably why I have a soft spot for tote bags. This precious jewels were found at Hobby Lobby. And I would love to have a bag made out of each one. No, this is not a hint. It is my motivation to pull out the sewing machine and give it a try.
Basic Twined Hat
This is my latest "cumbersome" project. It is a hat for my father in law. He wanted an extra warm hat so I dug out a pattern I purchased for a double knitted hat. I hate this hat. And I only hate it because it is a solid color and its incredibly boring to work on. And, being black, it is hard to knit because it is hard to see without perfect lighting. I can't wait to bind this off.

New Favorite Hat
Got the pattern off of etsy from Playin' Hooky Designs. This is the Zaggy Beanie. I wear this hat whenever I feel like it and my students covet it. And I won't make the one. It is too special to share. Except with maybe Maya. I love her enough.
Twisted Drop Stitch Cowl
I love Malabrigo Rasta yarn. I love it so much I've purchased 4 additional skeins in different colors to make more of these cowls to snuggle up in. Check my stash at www.ravelry.com/michelejm/stash Lots of yummy yarny goodness!
Hat
Waiting for my father in law to come to breakfast last weekend--I started this hat at Bob Evans. Because of this hat, there is a new family rule--no yarn in restaurants. Jerk.
Cables
I hate my job. Seriously. I. Hate. My. Job. But I have to eat and live and buy yarn so I continue on. And I'm no longer complaining to my husband about it. I've decided to just knit my cares away. So, last night while watching Star Trek, I decided to give cables a try. So. Easy. Honest! I loved it so much that I got up in the middle of the night to work on it. This will be a cowl when finished. And it will be finished soon!!!!
Entrelac!
I downloaded a class from Craftsy.com and basically taught myself to knit entrelac. You can see the front and the back. Looks tough, but it surprisingly simple. To say I love this is a complete understatement. If I were a fabric, I'd marry it. And the yarn makes it even better because the variegated yarn keeps you moving forward to see how the weave works. I'm currently at the halfway point and taking a break to learn cables!!
Vest for Lisa
My BFF wouldn't let me buy her a Christmas gift, so I made her this vest. She says she loves it. I'll believe her--this time. She's a picky lass. BUT, she picked the pattern and the yarn, so maybe she does like it.
Sorry Ma...
It was pointed out to me that it had been quite a while since I blogged so I guess I should catch you up on what I've been doing. The next few posts will show the many things I've been working on. But here's the real reason I haven't been knitting--I've been looking for the perfect man as this picture suggests...
