This blog was originally about keeping a New Year's Resolution about being creative every day. As I plod through my daily trials, the blog has evolved into a way to find and maintain my happiness through crafting and creating.

Here's my final project of 2011. It is called the Perfect Purse by Lion Brand. I used recycled cotton yarn and I'm pretty happy with it. Next year will bring the great "Stash Bust!" Wish me luck. I'm completely prepared to work through my stash. That will be roughly 30 projects. Which equals less than 3 projects a month. I'm working towards 1 project a week so I can start buying yarn again around my summer vacation! Here I go!!!

December 30, 2011
Today was spent aimlessly wandering. Couldn't focus on a project, laundry, television, reading. Then I realized I needed to get back into my "space." I've been crafting in the living room where the couches are hard to get comfortable in and everything is too "open." So, I packed up my gear and headed back upstairs. Since then, I've managed to catalog my entire stash except one skein (camera died). I've refocused. I've made my lists. I'm ready to go again. Thank goodness!
I started an afghan as a cheater's way of using up my stash, but I have since decided to frog it and just make scarves. Another cheater's way of using yarn, but at least these can net me some loot or make nice gifts next Christmas. Stash Bust 2012 starts in 2 days. And I'm ready. I think.
Now I need a nice new storage bin for all my completed projects! IKEA? Maybe!

Today I made this cute little soap bag using recycled cotton yarn. I'll have Andrew test it out and see if he likes it better than a washcloth.

Here's my little gem for today. I had made one before, but got conned into selling it. Finally made my own. Just need a pretty button for the clasp!

My Resolution Guidelines
As most of you know, my New Year's Resolution is to quit buying yarn until I've used the considerable amount already in my stash. Here are the rules:
1. Friends and relatives cannot buy me yarn no matter how mean I become.
2. If someone wants a special order, they must purchase the yarn.
3. When a project is done, that yarn is considered "used" and goes into the scrap bin or the stash bin at work.
4. Yarn that people give me because they have "destashed" does not count because I did not buy it. (Yes, there is a difference. Mom just gave me 6 skeins of wool, they do not count because I didn't beg her for them. She graciously decided to give them to me because she no longer wanted them.)
5. Yarn CAN be sold or traded or given away if I have no use for it or desire to use it. NOT just so I can empty my bins to go buy more!!
6. All yarn posted on my ravelry stash page are the yarns I must use before I buy more. Effective date is 1/1/12. You may monitor it closely. I will be entering my entire stash this week.
7. The Noro Daria yarn does not count. Plain and simple.

Returned to Cleveland today. Made a few stops and discovered this pretty little orphaned skein of yarn that I had to have. Came home to relax and knitted while the house fell down around me. Mom says I have patience. I was merely hoping that the house would catch fire and burn to the ground so I could get a new abode.

Finished all these lovelies today. (Mom helped finish the multi hat because we both hate red heart and she was saving my finger from more injuries!)

Project list
In preparing for my New Year's Resolution, I've started a project list. Each day it grows. But I have a couple of things on there that will KILL my Vanna stash. Bonus!
Christmas 2011
Finished my scarf for Alicia and started the hat for Tashara. Spent the day with family and relaxing.

Started a new ruffled scarf because I forgot the one I already made in Cleveland. And I can't even begin to think where it is...

Taurean
This is my little guy I'm teaching to knit. He didn't like the loom--he wants the "sticks.". So I bought him sticks today and he promised to stop calling his teachers "bitches.". Success!

Here's my progress on the evil yarn lady scarf. I didn't get much done today because my boss kept giving back paperwork to do. Fail.

Spent the day with Andrew and my parents celebrating his 40th birthday. Mom scored an awesome knitting stitch treasury while we were out. Here's one of the stitches I'd like to try. Hope it's in her book!
Also managed to get lisa's arm cover 2/3rds done. Super day!

Today, I created a new knitter. This is Kimmie, my cousin's fiancé. She said she wanted a hobby so while we watched "ELF", she learned to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. Then I gave her some awesome yarn from my stash and set her loose!

I have a closet in my home office that dad put shelves in years ago. It quickly becomes a catchall for things and on Friday I took everything out, sorted thru ALL the junk, threw out tons of junk and created a workable space.

Here's what I worked on Wednesday and Thursday. My sock monkey scarf. I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I'm even ore thrilled that a male coworker knew it was a sock monkey scarf!!

Doubled my work on lisa's arm covers. Am happy with the ease and quickness of the project. My next scarf may be basketweave!

Went to an Art Walk and a Handmade Market. Both were disappointing and all the merchandise was way overpriced. Did crochet a bit, but today was disappointing.

Started a slouchy hat using my araucana yarn. It's a pattern from a book with no increases or decreases, and it's working up pretty nicely!

Finally found a quick and easy snowflake pattern. I manage one every 8-10 minutes. Garlands here I come!
