This blog was originally about keeping a New Year's Resolution about being creative every day. As I plod through my daily trials, the blog has evolved into a way to find and maintain my happiness through crafting and creating.

Here's the scarf I'm working on for Dad. I got the top two colors done today. I like the way this Liberty Wool is working up. And the kids at school think that the way the yarn changes color is magic!

Today, I took a step towards democracy. Voted no on issue 2 and am hoping this creates a give and take with the legislature, not a finger pointing, middle class fight to preserve the American dream.

Spent the day going to craft shows with my friend Ally. Must remember when I'm retired and sitting around the house that plastic canvas is not sexy. Came home and knit a bit and read a bit.

Started Dad's scarf today (for the 3rd time). Actually like this pattern best. And I like the way the yarn is working up. It's Classic Elite Yarn's Lliberty Wool. Niiiiice to work with.

Back on the grid! It's been a rough few days, but I'm finally at ease/peace/calm. And here's a few things I've been working on: fixed a students necklace, made a paper lantern, bought a loom, started 2 scarves and tinkered around.

October 24-27, 2011
Going off the grid to reconnect myself to my life and housemates. I'm only doing what needs to be done. I need to refocus and learn to pace better. No mandatory creating or crafting. Only if I feel like it. I've hit a spiral and I need to put on the brakes. Catch you Saturday.

I got minimal knitting done today. Just about 4 rows because this is the day I returned home from Columbus and I was exhausted and driving. So, I give you a cute puppy picture to look at. Tomorrow I'll get nothing done, too, so don't be surprised to see another puppy picture.
October 22, 2011
Got no crafting done, but I did do a craft show with my mom. I hustled church goers for their money and netted mom about $500. And I made $110 selling off my scarves and washcloths. What did I create? More space in my craft room. What dud I buy? These handmade yarns.

Finished meetings and made the trek to Columbus. I started a scarf for dad at breakfast, but it's hard to get anything done when you're on the road. I did download the penguin sweater pattern, though!

Spent the day stuck in a Union Delegates Meeting, so not much creating was done. I knit between speakers and after lunch. But most of the time I was stuck in this room.

So, I knit a little, cleaned a little, packed for a long weekend and worked on a craft project for my aunt all while wishing I weren't. But I found this picture of something Andrew could create that would give him bonus points!!

Here's what I worked on today. I started a washcloth (and some asshole pulled it off my needles and I had to start over) at work. I also worked on mom's scarf for a bit. AND I made red velvet cookies from a cake mix, stick of butter and 2 eggs. Yum-O!

Completed my infinity wrap. Discovered it is too long so I made it into just a wrap that I'll secure with a shawl pin.

Today I worked a little on several projects and confessed my possession of a secret stash of yarn to Andrew. In honor of national I Love Yarn Day, here's a yarn I purchased that I can't decide what to make with it. Hmmmm.

Worked on my mom's scarf today. Liking how the colors move from purple to navy to chocolate to gray so far.

New garland!
The candy corns were made today, too. They are going to be my new garland! I love to look at--not eat--them!

Today, I searched ravelry for a simple simple simple cable pattern. Then I came home and decided to try it out. Here's my first attempt. I'm so proud of myself. Only one error on the back that I fixed on the second cable.

Tawashi
Roaming around ravelry this weekend and I found this tawashi pattern. It is a crocheted scrubbie for dishes. It's made out of Sugar 'n Cream. Super simple once I got the instructions in English!
October 10, 2011
Started my mom's special request "Take that evil yarn lady" scarf in Bernat's mosaic yarn. I'm two passes of the pattern in. Should be super pretty!

Yes, I'm lazy.
Yes, I paid Martha Stewart for this contraption to make paper decorations. Yes, I am a nut/sucker/pushover. And today I bought the other one that makes paper lanterns. Don't. Judge. Me. I. Have. Issues.

Here's the garter stitch dishcloth my mother wanted. Finished at halftime. BTW, I may have purchased more yarn today. I know I have problems because I passed up lime green accented tennis shoes in order to buy yarn.
October 7, 2011
I did a bit of work on my mom's special knit washcloth order today. Nothing major. However, I read an article about colorwork and this picture shows colorwork using two variegated yarns. Yum!

Spent a nice afternoon knitting with Haizle. Started my Muggle hat and later on started the washcloth for my mom. Tomorrow, who knows?

Finished!! And I'm starting my Muggle homework today! (This scarf was my Detention homework.). Yes, I'm officially a Harry Potter nerd on Ravelry.

Slowly, my life is spinning out of control. I'm trying to remain centered, but we all know that can difficult. My knitting seems to be my refuge lately. Thank goodness for that.
And this picture of a fabulous Martha Stewart craft is waiting for me, too.

The first picture is all the lovely crafty goodness I acquired today. (I have no idea how it ended up upside down.) And the second picture is my progress on the multidirectional scarf. I figure 2 more big triangles and 1 small one and I'll be done. Wednesday is the goal.

Bummer
Three disappointments is one day:
1. Puppy Tucker is no longer here.
2. The Buckeyes got spanked.
3. I didn't win anything from the 17 raffles I entered from www.yarndiscoverytour.com
Oh well. Story of life, eh?

Spent a good four hours at Panera with a small group of knitters where I got to spend four uninterrupted hours knitting. Niiice! At home I end up getting pulled away, so this was lovely.
And the yarn pictured? That is the yarn I'm going to sweet-talk my mom into helping me roll it tomorrow when she and dad visit. Bonus!

Here's the reason there was no post from me yesterday...
He was a stray I found on my way home. I generally will keep driving, but it was pouring rain, he was crouched in the street shivering and I didn't want anyone to take the curve and hit him. So, I got out in the pouring rain and convinced him I was safe. Put him in the back of the truck and brought him home. He's sleeping in the picture, but he needed to watched like a hawk!
I did get some knitting done while he was snoozing, but by the time I got him crated and safe, I passed out.
And no, I didn't keep him. He's safely housed at the Cleveland Kennel where someone else will fall in love with him and give him a great home. That is my wish.
