September 29, 2011

Today I worked a few hours on my multidirectional scarf and I signed up on the website craftsy.com. Online help, video classes and free patterns. Very nice. Between Etsy, ravelry, and craftsy I'm hooked!

September 28, 2011

Today was disappointing. So once I got home I sat down to finish a grant proposal to teach kids how to knit. And then I worked on my multidirectional scarf with the aim to finish the section I was working on. Success!

How did I know it was a good day?

I wore my favorite shoes!

September 27, 2011

Worked a bit on my multidirectional scarf. It's coming along. Next time, cast on 25, not 40. Remember that.

September 26, 2011

Day three of the purge and in almost done. The trash men will not like me Wednesday. Here's some finished projects I discovered. I'm selling them post haste to add to my yarn money.

You decide...

I told myself "No more yarn until you finish off a lot of projects!". And then my evil friend Haizle posts this picture of a hat that is so freakin' awesome that I had to have yarn to make my own. It worked up so beautifully that it looked like a Fair Isle knit.

September 25, 2011

So, I spent the majority of my weekend purging my personal spaces in the house. I'm not finished, but I am very happy with the progress. My craft room got a very much needed purge/reorg.

While I was purging I came across socks I had made to sell (but no one ever bought). So I moved them to my sock drawer for me. Here they are looking very cute with jeans and crocs.

September 24, 2011

Today was jam packed of things that seemed to overtake the day. Doctor's office, breakfast with BFF, Walmart, new hamper, craft room purge, emails with my Director that left me irritated, knitting on two scarves, Ohio State Football, and updating my ravelry page for the millionth time.

And all I can think about is this orphan yarn I bought yesterday.  Hoping it is enough to make myself a really nice hat.  I seem to have a crush on it.  Crystal Palace Yarns are my weakness. Taos, Mochi, Mini Mochi, sigh.

Finished! Take that evil yarn lady!!

September 22, 2011

Here's Harold. I think he's going to be my first monster. I like his belly button. And his feet. Yum.

And I almost finished the drop stitch/take that evil yarn lady scarf. I have about 24 more rows. I would have been done, but I took a nap. A much needed, mood fixing nap.

Lion Brand Knit-a-long

This is the just published KAL for the fall. I'm going to do it in a Lion Brand Woolease in heather grey.  Yum.  I'm considering saving it for my Harry Potter Knit and Crocher Wizarding Cup, but I may need to have this just as badly as the monster!

Yum.

Yum.

Yum.

I'm going to look awesome in this!

September 21, 2011

I'll start off this post by saying Happy Birthday to my favorite cousin, David.  We grew up together and he tolerates my nerdiness and encourages my craftiness.  He is so awesome he is sending me yarn from a nearby alpaca farm! (And I'm going to make him a hat he will never need because he lives in El Paso.)

As you know I have been doing the Yarn Discovery Tour here in Northeast Ohio.  I've spent WAY TOO MUCH loot on yarn and Andrew is considering an intervention.  It's gotten so bad that while we were at Barnes and Noble last night, I found a comfy chair to knit in while he looked for magazines.  As he strolls up to me all I hear him say is, "Really? (long pause) Really?"

Yes, Dear, Really.  At least I'm not shooting intraveinous drugs in public!

And here's the book I purchased!  I'm so totally stoked about starting my first monster.  I had to make a deal with myself, out loud or it doesn't count.  I have to finish my easy drop stitch scarf and my multidirectional scarf and my falling water scarf before I can touch the ever so lovely and silky CascadeFarms Pacific I purchased for this project.

So, I'm rushing home from work to finish the drop stitch scarf before dinner!!  Yippee!!

Here's today's progress on the multidirectional scarf!!

September 19, 2011

Spent the day going to medical appointments and knitting in waiting rooms. Here's the scarf I began late last night and worked on a lot of today. I was worried about the pattern being too difficult (I couldn't picture how the stitches could change direction). So I just trusted the pattern and it worked! Without pictures!

It's called the multidirectional scarf. The pattern is free on Ravelry. It is designed to highlight variegated yarns. I'm using Mosaic by Bernat.

Next up? Ruffles!

Argh!

Here's a picture of one of the yarn stores I visited today. As you can see, 95% of her inventory is still in the bag. How does she think this is a good idea? Buying yarn is all about how it feels. And the bags prohibit you from touching and seeing the true colors. She gets a #fail from me. I'll never go back.

September 18, 2011

Today, I continued the yarn tour. I hit 5 stores and I have 2 left. I'll catch them during the week.

The drop stitch scarf is on hold because I ran out of yarn. (amateur mistake) I'll have to drive to Macedonia or medina to find a HobbyLobby.

And below is my first apiary puff. It is in Misti Alpaca and I love it. It may take a million years, but I finally got started. Now I need some polyfil.

September 17, 2011

I've been crafting/creating but my lovely pup Tess decided she needed to eat the end of my laptop cord and it has made blogging difficult. I gave in and decided to try from my phone.

I'm almost done with the drop stitch scarf. I've been working most of the evening on it and I'm almost out of yarn. Hopefully it's enough to finish. If not, I get to take a trip to Hobby Lobby tomorrow!

I resumed my yarn tour today. Unfortunately I had to go it alone. Here's yarn I got from River Colors. It's Liberty Wool. Hoping to make a scarf for dad. The colors are yummy.

Tomorrow, more pictures of my stash and updates!!!!

September 14, 2011

Progress is more substantial with drop stitches because of the amount of room they take up. Bonus!

September 13, 2011

Here's my progress on the "Take That Evil Lady!" scarf. I'm very happy with the way it is working up. AND I already have a person to gift it to! Nice!

Here's the scarf that started it all!

September 11, 2011

So I made huge plans to come home and craft and I failed. I fixed a mistake in my falling water scarf and finished the pattern repeat before I got tired.

Then I reprinted a pattern and started it. (See below). The evil yarn lady at Black Locust wouldn't sell the pattern, so I found it for free on ravelry.com. Take that! Here's my first 8 rows. I made an error and I had to unravel it all, but I'm totally stoked to officially know how to do double and triple yarn overs. This scarf is going to ROCK!

September 10&11, 2011

I didn't get any crafting done this weekend. It has been a huge bummer for me because I enjoy crafting. It completes me.

However, I did create. On Saturday, I created chaos and ran Andrew all over CMH. Football, food and family. And back to CLE in one 16 hour period.

And today, I hopefully created an escape for Miss Haizle. We visited this lovely yarn store in medina and started our yarn Discovery tour. It was a goooooood weekend.

September 8, 2011

Managed 2 stitch sets before I got sleepy. Only 18 more sets until I'm done. And unfortunately I didn't buy enough yarn. I'll go tomorrow and grab another skein. Would like to be done by the 15th. (arbitrary deadline)

September 7, 2011

Learned to knit with 4 needles using a few pictures and a trial/error cast on. I think I did pretty darn good. Take that knitting ninja!

September 6, 2011

Worked on my fake isle hat, messed it up, unraveled it, started over. Second try seems to be working. I didn't take a picture because it is black and I haven't started the color work yet, so you wouldn't know what on earth it was.

This is my 100 ¥ pouch. I got it off of ravelry. It us a small crocheted coin purse that took 30 minutes and just a small amount of yarn. I think it's cute! I'm going to keep my ponytail bands in it in my purse.

I have issues

So I'm laying in bed thinking about the knitting error forcing myself to not get up. Then Tonka barks signaling he needs to go out. Soooo, as long as I'm up I might as well finish the four rows left and then go to bed.

And the mistake is barely noticeable! Yay!

September 5, 2011

Here's the progress I made today. Not bad....

September 4, 2011

Here's the falling water scarf I began yesterday. There's a few mistakes, but I'm ok with that. No one but me knows where.

I'm using a sock yarn, and I really like the striping. I need to spend $10 at each yarn store, so I'm going to buy a skein of fingering weight yarn at each store for my yarn discovery tour. And that will be the yarn for my Christmas gifts of this scarf for all my ladies on the list.

September 3, 2011

Here's my latest knitting project. It is called the falling water scarf and I seem to be doing pretty well so far with the help of YouTube and no caffeine. (no jittery hands)

I'm using a variegated sock yarn from Muchaels. It has oranges and pinks and it is lovely.

September 2, 2011

This is today's yarn purchases. Now, I need to hunker down and get started on something. The yarn on the right is so fabulous. I bought all they had. The sock yarn is going to be used to create a beautiful lacy scarf. The other 3, I just had to have.

September 1, 2011

> Didn't exactly craft today, but I did create. I worked today on making and finishing all the "homework" we had to do for our boss. I finally cleaned off my desk. I established order amongst the chaos.
>
> Tomorrow, I'm headed west! I have a yarn store to visit. And a Michael's coupon to utilize.
>
> Now? To bed!
