Told you so! I finished the second doily!!

August 29, 30, 31, 2011

Haven't been posting daily, but I have been busy. I've been scrambling to finish my 2nd doily before my meds kick in and put me to sleep!

August 28, 2011

I finished the scarf! (finally)

August 27, 2011

Primary objective today was to finish the scarf I had started. Seeing as how knitting is slower than crocheting, I may have set my sights too high. I'm roughly 2/3rds done. I'm not going to bust my butt, just going to keep plugging along.

Pictured below is a picture of the yarn I found a River Colors Studio yesterday. It is Amy Butler yarn. (swoon) I love Amy Butler. Now I need an excuse to buy the yarn...

Amy Butler Yarn

Found these beauties today too. Gosh how I love Amy Butler...

August 26, 2011

Here's the yarn I purchased today. It literally called my name. It's misti alpaca yarn in worsted weight. Sigh.

And I did work on my scarf today, too. Goal is to finish by the end of the weekend.

Finally well enough to comprehend the rest of the pattern...and the doily is finished! Yay!

Still terribly sick. Managed to finish the round I was on on the doily and went back to bed. Sigh.

I was terribly sick today. However, I forced myself to work on my doily. Wanted to finish the round I was on but couldn't keep my head up or my hands from twitching. Going to bed. Hopefully to get some sleep.

Here's what I did today! I crocheted a doily. Partially. Will finish tomorrow.

Foiled!

Look at the pattern. This is from only one skein of yarn. I didn't change skeins OR die lots. Why did the pattern change up at the top? Damn you Hobby Lobby!

August 21, 2011

Here's the progress I made today. I finished one skein of yarn so far. I'm roughly 2/3 done with the scarf. Dint quite know if I'm happy with it. It may become a gift....

Here's the completed safety pin bracelet. I'm pretty happy with it. The design comes from the Klutz book series aptly titled "Safety Pin Bracelets."

My cousin says, "Blogs are for nerds.". OK, I'll take that. Little does he know I posted his picture and his craft on here. (This is a goat, not my cousin! His pics were earlier this week!)

The only thing that got done today was a few row on my scarf. Going back to work after 10 weeks? Lame.

I didn't get a lot of crafting done Wednesday. It was my first day back to work. But here's the coaster that Tanner made!

August 16, 2011

The problem with knitting (if there is one) is that the process is slow going. Beautiful, but slow. Take this scarf, for instance. If I had crocheted it using half doubles in the back loop only, I'd have been done on Saturday.

Instead, I've decided to do the stockinette stitch bordered with seed stitch to keep the damn thing from rolling. I've had to restart 3 times. It's Tuesday, and I'm not half way done.

But, despite all of that, I will continue on my knitting quest. S l o w l y.

This is my cousin Tanner making a coaster for his girlfriend, Kimmie. And it was actually HIS idea. While he sewed, I worked on my infinity wrap.

August 14, 2011

I had to restart that same scarf again. Argh. Argh. Argh. So instead of showing you the progress I'm not making, I give you a picture of two very kissable lips.

August 13, 2011

I unraveled yesterday's photo and started over. I did 6 rows of seed stitch and seed stitch for the first 4 and last 4 stitches of each row. I did stockinette stitch in the middle part. It will come out looking like the scarf is "framed." It will also keep it from rolling. And I will love it.

August 12, 2011

Started a new knitted scarf. Took the advice about slipping the first stitch to keep it from curling. Seems to be working. BUT, I'm considering taking it all out and restarting it using a seed stitch as a border to frame the stockinette stitch. It will make it look more "polished," I think.

August 11, 2011

Gave up on the rocky point washcloth. Learned 2 lessons 1. Must not watch tv while working complicated stitches. 2. Always mark what row you've finished.

I got the first 12 rows done, screwed up again, cut the string, threw it out.

August 10, 2011

Restarted the rocky point washcloth, took a nap, went back to bed. End of day.

Corduroy, too

This would also make a very lovely bag. Sigh.

Corduroy

Yes. This is corduroy. Now if only I could sew, this would be my new tote bag.

August 9, 2011

Here's the rocky point washcloth I began knitting this afternoon/evening. I am telling you that it was going great until I made a fatal error. I neglected to turn on a light when it got dark.

Dropped a very important stitch.

Couldn't fix it.

Unraveled the damn thing.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Completed the knitted cowl In Lion Brand's Amazing yarn. I have half a skein left. Perhaps I'll save it.

Up next? Maybe socks. Maybe not.

Doilies

I didn't make this, but I'm getting ready to. And not in this color, either. I've been asked to make a doily, so I downloaded a free pattern and I'm going to give it a whirl.

Crooked River Fiber Festival

Here's two of the alpacas that were at the festival today. I was a bit disappointed because I expected tons of yarn. There was yarn and clothing and animal fiber to make into yarn. Just not much of all of them.

I did, however, score a beautiful lime green wool for $5.

August 7, 2011

This was today's project. Ribbon and pearls woven together to make a necklace. One day I'll figure out how to work up a stretchy version for bracelets...

Can't wait for fall so I can wear this with my sweaters!

August 6, 2011

Worked on decorating my "M"'s I recently bought. Rule #1: always shake the paint first. Duh! I forgot all three times!

Lakewood Arts Fest

Spent a couple hours walking around checking out all the beautiful things people had made and were selling. Not much inspiration for me, but a lot of things I would like to have had. Only one knitter was there. No one had yarn or fibers to sell. So much jewelry, but none like my mom makes (crocheted).

Perhaps I'll sit at my table, clear off the surface, and see what direction my creative spirit leads me in.

Disaster!

Ok, not really. I joined new yarn to my cowl following someone's instructions and it caused the cowl to begin to unravel. Managed to fix it, transfer to other needles and transfer back to original needles.

Crochet us so much more forgiving.

I finished my hooded cowl today. Perfect for getting from my car to work in the snow.

County fair!

Next week is the county fair and there will be 246 goats to kiss! I'm so ready to go!

August 3, 2011

Instead of material creating today, I created an atmosphere of harmony for my new boss. I held a small luncheon and invited her to attend. She happily came and got to meet a few staff members in a no-pressure situation. It hopefully created a good feeling for her and makes her transition easier. I work in a terribly rough building and I want her to feel at home at the jump.

Tomorrow I'll buckle back down. I promised myself.

August 2, 2011

Spent the day being aimless. Had a long twitter conversation with Lion Brand Yarn Studio about a pattern. I knew I was wrong and finally she helped me figure out I was doing the yarn over incorrectly. I ripped out the swatch twice. I'll restart tomorrow when I'm awake and fresh.

Also I made my weekly trek to Joann's and purchased paint and stickers to decorate the "M"'s I purchased this past week. I'm going to have to extend my collection of "M"'s to another overhang in the craft room. The collection has definitely grown.

And now I'm off to sleep with a double dose of RLS meds. My legs have been bothering me terribly at night. I hope this works.

August 1, 2011

Spent the majority of my day in Hartville, Ohio. Was hoping to find some yarn that was unique, btr instead found a crappy flea market.

When I got home I worked a bit more on my hooded cowl and then called it a day.
