March 31, 2011

Today I worked on that Gaelic afghan and I now have 7.5 rows to go.

AND I created a new bedroom setup, took down Tess' crate and vacuumed
up an incredible amount of dog hair and dust. I'm thrilled to have a
clean room for the new mattress.

March 30, 2011

Today I worked on that crazy Gaelic afghan. I have 9 1/2 rows left. Andrew was right. I won't finish it by the end of the month. Well, this month. I will however finish it by the end of next month. OR tomorrow if this snow keeps up and I get my last snow day of the year! Fingers crossed. Pajamas inside out. Prayers said.

This is the view from the bench in front of the yarn store.

Pretty darn fabulous...

March 29, 2011

Today, after I got home from visiting a yarn store for sale, I worked
on this scarf that I may never finish.

Paper Dogwood Craft

How fabulously beautiful!
I bet it would look awesome as a garland....

Crochet Pennant Garland

So I'm reading my twitter feed and I come across this link to wine rack yarn storage and then another link for something else and then this link: http://www.prudentbaby.com/2009/10/crochet-pennant-garland.html for a Crochet Pennant Garland.

I LOVE GARLANDS!

I feel a new craft brewing.

chartreuse. It matches the color scheme of the room.

March 27, 2011

Made a few more button bracelets and worked on the afghan a little.

Today I made button bracelets and barrettes while I had no parents
come for parent/teacher conferences.

I chalked the mystery crochet along, because I was pissed off that it
was a mushroom potholder. I'm now unravelling the yarn for a different
project.

Day 6 (Mystery Crochet Along)

March 24, 2011

Today I went back to work and wished I had stayed home.  I also contacted a local yarn store that is for sale to set up an appointment to discuss purchasing it.  Today, I worked on creating my destiny  and a happier tomorrow.  That and day 6 of the Mystry Crochet Along.

Day 5 - Wednesday 3/23/11
  • With Color B, ch 11.
  • Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 10 sts.

Day Four (Mystery Crochet Along)

Smaller, still.

March 22, 2011

Today, I spent the day helping kids print letters and decorate their science fair boards. Kind of a pain in the butt, but I helped because they asked. If kids are working on something for school I generally tend to help out and not complain. Let's just say that I'm sick of cutting out letters and having sticky glue stick fingers.

Today is also day 4 of the Mystery Crochet Along.

Day 4 - Tuesday 3/22/11

  • With Color B, ch 2.
  • Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Fasten off.

Monday, March 21, 2011

Day Three (Mystery Crochet Along)

Thrilling, eh?

March 21, 2011

Today I did the third day of the Mystery Crochet Along.  Here's the instructions.

This let me down again.  I wait to get home to get the instructions and then all I have are 20 stitches.  To compensate, I worked on the afghan posted earlier this month.  My goal is to finish it by the end of the month.  Cross your fingers.

Day 3 - Monday 3/21/11

  • With Color B, ch 2.
  • Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first chain. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
  • Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts. Fasten off.

March 17, 2011

This is my flower garland that I made in January. The permanent glue
dots I used to glue them to sage colored grosgrain ribbon proved to
not be permanent at all. This past weekend the flowers continued to
fall to the ground where Tess was sure to find and eat them if left
unnoticed.

So, today I had a bright idea to take down the garland, peel off the
flowers, and find another way to hang them. I came up with punching
holes in the back layer of each flower and then stringing them on
cotton yarn. I like the effect much better than the original because
now they can drape instead of hanging stiffly on the ribbon with no
give. Heck, if they were smaller and nor made of paper, it could be a
pretty little girl (or big girl) necklace!

March 16, 2011

Today, I created a thank you garland for a friend.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

March 15, 2011

Today, I took a break from creating and ran some errands that we needed to run. Our printer died, so we took a trip to Best Buy to purchase a new one. It was a chance for us to eat dinner together and spend time together--which we haven't been able to do for a while now. We srocery shopped and stopped by our favorite bookstore.

At the bookstore, (where I get most of my creative ideas from magazines...) I did find a really neat origami pattern in this really cool UK magazine called "Making" (http://http://www.makingmagazine.com/). I'll be getting the book from the library to take another crack at making an origami ball. Previous attempts have failed, but like knitting--I'm going to try 3 more times before I say, "screw it."

What I would really like is to see what you've been working on. If you would like to post a picture and caption, email me at michelejm.creates@blogger.com It will post directly to this blog!

March 10, 2011

Actually, the more I thought I about it, I helped create a memorable birthday for my favorite student. Her name is Alicia Ballard and she has been my student since she was in Kindergarten. So we have been together for 9 years. I've watched her grow up and I decided this year, our last year together, I would go all out for her birthday.

She loves Tinkerbell and I bought every single thing I could find that had Tinkerbell on it. Today, I gave her the huge box and the look on her face when she opened it gave me a surge of joy.
So, today, I created an awesome birthday memory.

March 10, 2011

Today, I created chaos. It was just one of those days.
